    First Job Shipped from Montgomery, AL Facility

    RockCast shipped its first job for the Montgomery Airport from the newly opened Montgomery, Alabama hand tamp facility.  The Airport addition consisted of 80 cubic feet (Crystal White) material shipped from the Montgomery facility and 120 (12") stretchers manufactured at our Cincinnati, Ohio plant.

    Diamonds from the Rough

    Housing Authority spins $20 million grant into a sparkling new neighborhood project totaling nearly $100 million.  The housing development is built on a grid around a new neighborhood school and is surrounded with environment-friendly permeable pavers from Reading Rock saved $1million that then went toward building more housing.

    After months of planning, RockCast is excited to announce the opening of our new Montgomery, Alabama hand tamp facility.  RockCast will be manufacturing our custom cast stone products in monotone colors at the new location.

    Largest Permeable Paver Job in Kentucky

    Through the redevelopment of Bluegrass-Aspendale (BGA), the project architect, Sherman-Carter-Barnhart (SCB), has specified the use of 187,000 square feet of Reading Rock's permeable pavers as an alternative to the typical asphalt surface.  This is the largest single installation of permeable pavers in the state of Kentucky, and another step toward a cleaner environment.

    Two New Additions to RockCast Team

    To help keep up with demand, Reading Rock has added two new positions; a Senior Project Manager with 20 years experience in Commercial Construction and a University of Cincinnati (College of DAAP) co-op student who recently finished an internship in the aerospace industry.  The new associates will help manage RockCast accounts and projects as well as assist in the day-to-day operations of the division as we continue to experience growth in the marketplace.

    Spec Manager Achieves LEED Green Associate

    Reading Rock is proud to announce that our Hardscape Specification Manager, Greg Cooper, has achieved the honor of LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).  He now joins a group of twelve other Reading Rock associates from sales, manufacturing and marketing who are LEED AP and LEED Green Associate.

    RockCast Chosen for Baystate Medical Center

    Baystate Medical Center is building a new 641,000 sq. ft. facility that will house a dedicated heart and vascular center, new patient care units with spacious private rooms, and shell space for future growth, all using the latest in environmentally friendly building practices.

    Baystate Medical Center was designed by Steffian Bradley Associates, Inc. (Boston, MA) and includes RockCast AMV and Custom Series (smooth and chiseled) in Savannah Blend. 

    Baystate Medical Center is a LEED project and Reading Rock's RockCast product helped contribute to the credits.

    Two More Achieve LEED Green Associate

    Reading Rock is excited to announce that another RockCast Market Manager and Hardscape Regional Manager have achieved LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).  After months of preparing and studying, they passed the rigorous test with flying colors.  They now join a group of eleven other Reading Rock associates who have earned the honor by the USGBC.

    Third Time's a Charm!

    An unsightly slope is transformed into a wonderful water feature by Kevin Werbrich (owner of Werbrich's Landscaping and an experienced installer of ponds and water cascades) and his team.  Over a two-month period, Werbrich transformed the existing stream and pond into the current configuration with a terraced garden using three pumps running 22,500 gallons of water per hour!

    Moeller High School Veteran Memorial

    To honor members of the Archbishop Moeller High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) family who have served honorably in the military services for four or more years, the school is building a veterans memorial wall, which be located at the high school's main entrance.  Doug Burwinkel, 1990 Moeller graduate and Senior Project Manager at Reading Rock designed the memorial which consists of an engraved RockCast wall surrounded by personalized PaverLock pavers.

    The ground breaking for this memorial will be held on Saturday, July 24 and dedicated on Veterans Day in November.

    RockCast Chosen for New Red Cross Headquarters Building

    Emerson Design selected RockCast as the dominant veneer material used on the new Red Cross Headquarters located in Cincinnati, Ohio (opening Summer 2010).  RockCast was chosen as its regional partner for the use of its recycled content, commitment to quality and variety of textures that present an aesthetically pleasing appearance. 

    "The three story stone wall, with its lively pattern of windows and masonry, evokes the strength and dynamism of relief operations in this midst of chaos," said Emerson Design.

    This facility, located on I-71, will be seen by over 130,000 vehicles daily and features the prominent American Red Cross logo set in a field of split and smooth face veneer in a custom RockCast color.

    Emerson Design is applying for Gold LEED status for this building.
