    Standard Backer Rod

    Standard backer rod is an ideal non-absorbent compressible material inserted into a joint to control sealant depth. It creates a backstop to allow for proper sealant tooling. Backer rod is commonly used in glazing operations, window and door applications, expansion joints, curtain wall joints, partitions, log constructions, pavement joints and repair, and precast units and copings among many other job applications.


    Standard backer rod is an extruded round, closed-cell, low-density polyethylene foam material with skin-like outer texture. It is highly flexible and compressible for easy installation; however, it is important to make sure that one does not puncture, stretch, or overly compress backer rod.

Soft Backer Rod

  • Description

    Soft Backer Rod

    Soft backer rod is a soft, gray, pliable non-gassing backup material inserted into an expansion or contraction joint to control sealant depth, create a backstop to allow for proper sealant tooling, ensure sealant adhesion to joint surfaces only, and yield a proper bond break between backup material and sealant.


    Soft backer rod is particularly well suited for specialty applications where standard backer rods are not appropriate. Soft backer rod is ideal in irregular joint applications where self-leveling, flowable sealants are employed. Soft backer rod is also recommended for use with sealants where bubbling concerns are critical. It is compatible with all know cold-applied sealants including butyl, polysulfide, acrylic, polyurethane, and silicone.


    Soft backer rod may be used in place of most standard backer rod applications or as a temporary joint seal.

    Open Cell Backer Rod

    Open-cell backer rod is an ideal non-gassing backup material, which is inserted into construction and pavement joints to control sealant depth, create a backstop to allow for proper sealant tooling and configuration, and allow for proper sealant airing and yield a proper bond breaker.


    Open-cell backer rod is ideal for non-uniform joint sizes and is commonly used in expansion and contraction joints, window glazing, curtain wall construction partitions, precast assemblies and copings, parking decks, bridge construction, and more.


    Open-cell backer rod, an inert material, is compatible physically and chemically with virtually all known hot-pour and cold-applied sealants including silicone and asphalt.

    Hot backer rod is an ideal, non-absorbent, compressible backup material inserted into a joint to control sealant depth and create a backstop to allow for proper sealant tooling, allow for proper sealant wetting of the joint surfaces, and yield proper bond breaker between the backup material and sealant.


    Hot backer rod is a backstop material for most hot-pour sealants used to fill contraction and expansion joints of concrete highways, runways, driveways, and parking lots. It is compatible with most rubber-asphalt and coal tar-rubber polymer thermoplastic compounds.

HBR®

  • Description

    HBR® is a closed-cell, polyethylene foam backer rod joint filler that is used as a backing material for elastomeric and other cold-applied sealants. It helps the sealant assume the optimum shape to prolong service life and acts as a barrier to the flow of sealant through the joint. It will not absorb water and is available in ¼” to 6” diameter.

    UltraSil 7 is a water-based lithium silicate solution used to densify and cure freshly troweled, or “green” concrete surfaces or to densify older floors in need of treatment.   • Non-Crosslink Polyethylene & Sill Seal

    Non-Crosslink Polyethylene is a closed cell foam that is available in three colors — black, gray or white. It can be used in nearly all standard concrete construction applications and is widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial construction.


    Extruded from high-quality polyethylene foam, non-crosslink polyethylene is very flexible and can be used around curves or columns without breaking. It is approximately 10 times lighter than traditional expansion joint products. With near-zero water absorption, it will not rot out of the joint over time. A peel-off strip is standard on each roll but can be special ordered without.


    Installation is easy — no special equipment is required. Non-crosslink polyethylene can be installed using spray adhesive, mechanical fasteners, or even just the smack of a hammer. The peel-off strip can face up or down depending on whether or not the joint will be sealed. If the joint will be sealed, utilize the peel-top feature to create the sealant cavity.


    Sill Seal is a non-crosslink polyethylene foam that can be used as a barrier seal around windows and between wood framing and concrete walls. It is very similar to regular non-crosslink polyethylene foam, but does not come with a peel-off strip.

    Solid neoprene rubber bearing pads provide for movement caused by normal expansion and contraction. They are used in many industrial machinery and heavy equipment applications. 


    AASHTO Grade Solid Neoprene Rubber Bearing Pads provide for a uniform transfer of load from beam to structure. They permit rotation at the bearing point due to deflection or misalignment. They absorb vibration and prevent sound transfer while reducing the destructive action of vibration between movable and stationary members. AASHTO grade solid neoprene rubber bearing pads are used extensively in bridge structures and pre-stressed and precast concrete buildings.
